OFFICIAL: UNITED COMPLETE POGBA DEAL

OFFICIAL: MAN UTD SIGN POGBA
By Uwoghiren

Manchester United have completed the signing of
Paul Pogba from Juventus.
Pogba left United to join Juve in 2012 but Jose
Mourinho has now re-acquired the France
international midfielder for a world-record transfer
fee.
The 23-year-old, who has long been linked with a
return to Old Trafford outfit d, has now become the most
expensive player in football history, overtaking the
deal that took Gareth Bale from Tottenham to Real
Madrid in 2013.
"Manchester United is delighted to announce that
Paul Pogba has completed his transfer from Italian
club Juventus," the club wrote on their official
website.
"Paul joins on a five-year contract, with the option to
extend for a further year."

The French midfielder made just seven appearances for
United during his initial stint with the club, and
failed to complete 90 minutes in the Premier League
under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson.
But while there was some bitterness on both sides at
his departure for Italy, Pogba has made the decision
to rejoin the club as they look to vastly improve on
the fifth-placed finish secured under Louis van Gaal
in 2015-16.

MATIC WELCOME KANTE CHALLENGE

MATIC READY FOR  KANTE  CHALLENGE

By uwoghiren

Nemanja Matic insists he is not concerned by the
prospect of competing with N’Golo Kante for a
starting spot in Chelsea’s midfield.
The Blues completed the signing of France international  last week for a fee believed to be
in the region of £30 million.
Kante will subsequently battle with Matic for a berth
in Antonio Conte's starting lineup, but the Serbian
insists that he is unfazed by the arrival of the 25-
year-old, who played a major role in Leicester City’s
Premier League title triumph last season.
“I am sure that 100,000 players want to come to play
for Chelsea so there is always competition, all life is
a fight so every player is ready for that," Matic said.
“Yes, [it is great to have him] he is a good player and
I am sure that he will bring a lot of qualities to our
team and all good players are welcome to our team.
“He is a great player and it was difficult play against
him [last season] and I am very happy because he is
coming to Chelsea.”
In addition to Kante Chelsea also signed Michy
Batshuayi this summer, with the striker arriving from
Marseille for a fee of £33m.
And Matic has backed the 22-year-old to prove a
major success at Stamford Bridge.
“He has quality of course and he is welcome because
he is a great player,” he added. “I hope that he is
going to bring quality to our team, they are going to
improve with us and that’s it.
“Yes, he is a good striker and that’s why Chelsea
bought him and I am sure he will bring quality to our
team and I am sure he will score a lot of goals.”

MOURINHO TARGET SILVERWARE FOR UNITED

MOURINHO REVEALS  MANCHESTER UNITED'S SEASON TARGET

By Uwoghiren

Jose Mourinho claims he has told Manchester
United’s owners that he is aiming to win the Premier
League title in his first season at Old Trafford.
The former Chelsea boss has joined on a three-year deal and
has boosted United’s chances of ending their three-
year wait for a league title with the signings of Zlatan
Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, along with
defender Eric Bailly.
And while he has been told by the Glazers that there
is no pressure on him to win a trophy in his debut
campaign, Mourinho is adamant that he will not just
settle for a place in the top four.
“No ultimatum. No demands. Just tranquillity to play
and work my three-year contract,” Mourinho told The
Sun .
“The message from the owners and Mr Woodward
was this — ‘Get your three years, do your work,
improve the team and bring us back where we belong
during a three-year period’.
“My message was that I wanted to win the title in the
first season.
“I want to be champion. To say before the season
starts that the top four is the target? The top four is
not the target. We want to play to be champions.
“If during the season we realise the points difference
doesn’t allow us to fight for the title, we are going to
establish a new title and when you can’t be
champion the next target is to finish top four.
“But day one, I don’t want to hide behind a bad
season or no Champions League football to say we
want to finish top four.”

MAHREZ NAMED PFA PLAYER OF THE YEAR
By uwoghiren

Riyad Mahrez has been named the PFA Player of the Year for 2016 seeing off competition from  team-mates Jamie Vardy and N'Golo Kante and spurs's Harry Kane to scoop the prize.
The Algeria international has been inspirational for Claudio Ranieri's side this season with his 17th goal of the season on Sunday helping them move eight points clear at the top of the table after a 4-0 win over Swansea City.
Mahrez has also contributed 11 assists for the Foxes, who remain hot favourites to win their first ever Premier League title with just three games left to play.
The Algeria international's Leicester team-mate Jamie Vardy came second in the vote with Tottenham striker Harry Kane finishing third.
"It's extra special because if the players vote for me it's because they've seen I've been great this year so I'm happy," said Mahrez on accepting the award.
"Without my team-mates I wouldn't get this award. We are like brothers, it's everywhere on the pitch. That's our strength.
"If sometimes we are not good, we know we are going to run and make the effort for our team-mates. That is the secret of our success."

Mahrez is Leicester's first-ever winner of the award and also makes history by becoming the first African player to pick up the accolade.
The 25-year-old Algeria international is also the first winner not to play for Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham or Manchester United since Newcastle United's Alan Shearer in 1997.
Elsewhere, Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli was named Young Player of the Year, Jamie Vardy received an award to recognise his record 11-game Premier Leageue goalscoring streak and Ryan Giggs received the PFA Merit Award.

RONALDO A DOUBT FOR CITY CLASH

Ronaldo doubtful for Manchester City clash
By uwoghiren

Ronaldo picked up the thigh issue late in Wednesday's 3-0 La Liga win over Villarreal, with the attacker's availability for next Tuesday's Champions League semifinal first leg at City now uncertain.
After tests carried out on both Thursday and Friday in the Spanish capital, Madrid said that the 31-year-old had a strain in his right thigh muscle without giving any indication when he might be ready to return to action.
The Blancos coach told a news conference that the injury was being monitored from day to day, but even with Madrid chasing the Liga title and Ronaldo going for the European Golden Shoe top scorer award he was definitely not going to be in the match squad for Saturday's game.
"Tomorrow [Ronaldo] will not play," Zidane said. "We did the scans and he has nothing serious, but he cannot play tomorrow. Then we will see day to day. Tomorrow he will stay at home. Then we will see about Tuesday."

NEYMAR TO MISS COPA AMERICA

OFFICIAL: NEYMAR TO MISS COPA AMERICA

Barca have confirmed that Neymar will represent Brazil at the Olympic Games but not the Copa America this summer.
Earlier this month, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced they would fight the European champions' insistence that the forward would only be available for one tournament.
Now, however, Barca claim that CBF president Marco Polo del Nero has agreed that Neymar will be called up solely for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
A club statement reads: "FC Barcelona thanks the Brazilian Football Confederation and its president, Marco Polo del Nero, for having accepted the proposal the club made so that Neymar would only play the Olympic Games that take place between August 3 and 21.
"As a result, Neymar Jr will be exempted from playing the Copa America that takes place in United States between June 3 and 26."
The Copa America is taking place for a second consecutive year to mark the centenary of Conmebol and the first tournament in 1916.
It will be hosted outside of South America, in the United States, for the first time and features an expanded field of 16 teams including six Concacaf representatives.
Neymar was sent off at the end of Brazil's second match of last summer's Copa America in Chile, resulting in a four-match ban which ruled him out of the rest of the tournament.
