SIGURDSSON STRIKE DOWNS CHELSEA

SIGURDSSON STRIKE ENDS HIDDINK'S UNBEATEN RUN
By uwoghiren

The blues suffered their first Premier League defeat since the appointment of Guus Hiddink as they lost 1-0 at liberty stadium on Saturday.
Hiddink replaced Jose Mourinho on an interim basis in December and has successfully guided Chelsea into the top half following a disastrous start to their title defence.
However, in the first match since Antonio Conte was confirmed as Mourinho's permanent successor, it was the Welsh club who celebrated reaching the fabled 40-point mark at the Liberty Stadium.
Gylfi Sigurdsson's fourth goal in five league matches gave Swansea a deserved lead midway through the first half, while Alexandre Pato wasted two golden opportunities to restore the party. but Swansea held on to end Hiddink's 15-match unbeaten run and record their first Premier League win over the London club.

LUCAS DOUBLE SEALS VICTORY

LUCAS DOUBLE GIVES CHAMPIONS VICTORY
By uwoghiren

A second-half brace from Lucas Moura saw a much-deserved victory for Paris Saint-Germain as they ease pass Guingamp at the Stade du Roudourou stadium.
Laurent Blanc made nine changes to his side with a trip to Manchester City in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on the horizon, but PSG eventually still had too much for their hosts, even without the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Angel Di Maria and Thiago Silva.
Guingamp duo Moustapha Diallo and Mevlut Erdinc both spurned promising opportunities as Guingamp had the better of the first half, but champions PSG raised their game after the break.
Lucas slotted home from the spot in the 56th minute after Christopher Nkunku was fouled by Jeremy Sorbon, before the Brazilian doubled his tally with a smart finish midway through the second half following some good work from Layvin Kurzawa to seal all  three points.

CARROLL CRUSHES ARSENAL TITLE HOPES

CARROLL CRUSHES ARSENAL TITLE HOPES FOR GOOD
By Uwoghiren

Arsenal were cruising at Upton Park, 2-0 to the good after goals from Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez and were also playing beautifully as a team.
Then came the wrecking ball, ponytail swinging in the wind, to ruin the moment. Andy Carroll, the definition of a nuisance target man, planted a superb header past David Ospina, bafflingly selected ahead of Petr Cech despite the ex-Chelsea goalkeeper returning to fitness, from Aaron Cresswell’s pinpoint cross.
And then again. Carroll is equally adept at volleying the ball beyond the goalkeeper as he is at heading it and he proved that with a remarkable swinging strike after the Gunners failed to clear a corner.
From two goals up in the 44th minute to level at half-time, Arsenal had imploded. It got worse. Carroll, so abysmally marked by both Gabriel and Laurent Koscielny, rose high in the early stages of the second half to grab his hat-trick. He was Arsenal’s worst nightmares. Laurent Koscielny equalised, but the damage was done. They are now 10 points behind Leicester, and three behind Tottenham.

Carroll’s performance ruined Arsenal’s title hope and summed up the club’s decade of underachievement.

Goal understands the marquinhos has approved an annual salary of around €4.5 million, as well as a signing-on fee worth €3m, after talks between the club and player held in Madrid.
Barca have tabled an offer of €45m for Marquinhos and will go as high as €50m to land their man but French champion continue to refuse to entertain their interest.
PSG have often stated their desire to keep the ex-Roma man, who is under contract until 2019, and previously rejected a bid from Barcelona.
They face a fight to retain their man  this summer, however, given the advanced nature of the talks.

Goal understands the defender representatives are keen for their client to leave the French capital - though his agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, denied any contact with Barca when asked for comment.
